Frances Phillips

Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Frances, I am a model and nutritionist, based in London.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Creative, passionate and loyal

What does a day in your life look like?

I've had a relatively simple skincare routine since I was young: cleanser, serum, eye cream, and moisturizer.

At night, I double cleanse (usually an oil first, then a cream or gel). I have fairly sensitive skin, so I don't use too many active ingredients and instead favor products made with natural ingredients. I do facials and exfoliations/masks at home, but I don't go overboard. I love products, but I believe good skin starts from the inside out, so I pay a lot of attention to that.

What are you most proud of?

There's no particular moment that comes to mind, but I think I've always known how to take risks and I'm proud of that.

I never made a decision based on what was easiest to do.

An anecdote from your life that helped you move forward?

Having problem skin (eczema and acne) while modeling was incredibly difficult, but it led me to study nutrition and naturopathy and ultimately to what I do now.

What is your relationship with your body and mind?

I feel like my relationship with my body has changed a lot since I stopped focusing on modeling. It's only now that I realize how bad it is to have other people's opinions projected onto you.

I'm not saying I've never had insecurities, but I've never felt more comfortable in my own skin than I do today, and I don't think that's a coincidence. Prioritizing my mental health is something I constantly have to work on.

It's not something I talk about because I'm naturally quite private, but I think it's great that the conversation about mental health is so important today.

What boosts you on a daily basis when you don't feel well?

Being at home with my husband and cat – I'm such a homebody!

If you had to keep only one beauty product in your vanity case? (cream, serum, oil, eye cream, etc.)

I think it would be an oil-based cleanser. Living in the city, I feel like it's a must-have. But if I could just have a great cleanser and a good moisturizer, I think I'd be happy with those two products. I'm not a 10-step routine kind of girl.

Your favorite Aime product and why?

I love the Sleep & Glow set – I always have them next to my bed. Sleep drops are amazing for long-haul flights or jet lag.

Any food/sports/lifestyle addresses?

In London, I love Noble Rot for lunch (or a glass of wine sitting by the window), Luca for dinner, and Lore of The Land for the best Sunday roast. I go to Natalia at Taylor Taylor in Liberty for my haircut/color, and Bamford Brompton Cross for massages and holistic treatments.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Chocolate or a glass of wine, but I never feel guilty. I think there's a misconception that nutritionists eat "perfectly" all the time, whatever that means! Finding balance is one of the principles I try to promote when it comes to healthy eating.

What is your mantra?

I don't have a particular mantra, but I like “this too shall pass” – a reminder that the ups and downs are temporary.

Your plans for the future?

I have so many ideas about what I would like to do in the future. I would like to write a book or have my own products. My dream is to live in the south of France and grow my own organic vegetables surrounded by lots of animals – very healthy!
